She graduated with Honors from the University of Hawaii at Hilo with a BA in English Literature. She returned for a Teacher's Certificate, and has been teaching since 2008.

                                    Reason for signing up:
As a transplant to Kentucky, I have been going to as many literary readings as possible. It is important for me to immerse myself in the culture of Creative Writing here in Lexington. It is an enrichment to me, and in the process, an enrichment for my students. I don't function well without poetry. Signing up with LexPoMO is a challenge I would like to take.

This is my last summer in Lexington before I move to the Midwest, and so I wanted to go out the same way that I've spent my last two summers here: writing poetry.

I'm a former theatre nerd, then restaurateur, currently a jack-of-all trades. NOT a poet, but a writer of prose. Works in progress include YA fiction, Appalachian literary fiction, and picture book manuscripts. I blog about food and cooking extremely sporadically. I'm superb at starting projects, and not so great at finishing them. All things creative and expressive inspire me, and I'm a wanna-be artist. I live in the beautiful Bluegrass with my husband and son.

That whole "not a poet" thing means I'll get a good stretch outside my comfort zone. And this public platform will give me some accountability -- I may even finish a few poems.
