Lexington Poetry Month was created by Hap Houlihan of the Morris book shop and Katerina Stoykova-Klemer of Accents Publishing to get Lexington, Kentucky writing and sharing poetry for the entire month of June. Last year, Accents Publishing conducted the Lexington Poetry Month Writing Challenge, which allows anyone who wants to the challenge to write a poem every day and share up to five of them on the Accents Blog. In fact, we posted well over a 1,000 poems from 75 Lexington poets. Christopher McCurry and Hap Houlihan even picked their favorites for the collection Her Limestone Bones.
The Lexington Poetry Month Writing Challenge for 2014 is brought to you by Accents Publishing with the generous support of:
It is because of these great sponsors that this year’s event is completely free of charge, which we greatly appreciate.
You can also choose to pre-order a copy of next year’s anthology of this year’s Lexington Poetry for only $12 (free shipping and handling!). And, if you like what we’re doing and just want to donate, we will happily accept any amount.
But the most important way to participate in Lexington Poetry Month is to participate in Lexington Poetry Month! We will continue to release more information as it comes in. We will have a calendar of LPM2014 events as well other activities. Make sure to bookmark this page as we’ll keep it updated.
